Bass attractants….do they work? Well that use to be my thoughts exactly. I was very skeptical on using attractants when fishing, until I finally used my first attractant. I did not want to waste money and make some tackle company richer claiming they have the bass fishing secret of the century. Anyways, the first bass attractant I used was not actually bought. I found some Berkley Fishing Attractant one day while fishing a local pond. I was fishing a plastic craw, and squirted some Berkley’s attractant on it and the bite actually picked up a bit. This convinced me into buying some Yum bass attractant.

Over the last couple years I have tried many different attractants and Yum Game Fish Attractant is by far the best in my opinion. It comes in a spray bottle rather than a pour or squirt. It’s not messy and one spray does a lot! Another favorite of mine would be Gulp’s garlic spray, it also comes in a spray bottle. So give bass attractants a shot, you may just start catching more fish!

After the 1st day of the Bassmaters Elite Series being held on Lake Champlain Steve Kennedy from Alabama is leading. On Thursday he was fishing the southern end of Champlain, where he caught bass totaling 21 pounds and 6 ounces. Not far behind him in 2nd place is Timmy Hortan also from Alabama with 21 pounds 2 ounces of bass. Scott Rock from Arkansas stands in 3rd with 19lbs 6 ounces. Trailing him would be Davy Hite right at 18lb 2 ounces. While many anglers were going after smallies, Steve was headed after the largemouth bass. It’s only day 1 it will be interesting to see how this tournament pans out. There is still a lot of bass fishing to be done!
